Peter Husslein
Peter Husslein, MD is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Born on May 27th 1952, son of Univ. Prof. Dr. Hugo Husslein, retired chief of the II. Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Vienna University and Dr. Adelina Husslein,
gynaecologist in Vienna. Elementary school - Lycee Francais in Vienna High school - Theresianische Akademie Medical school in Vienna, graduated after 5 years sub auspiciis praesidentis rei publicae 1975. Specialization in Innsbruck, Salzburg and Vienna. Numerous stays abroad among others 6 months obstetrical and
gynaecological activity in Togo/ Lome, West Africa, 18 months scientific
activity at Cornell Medical School in New York.
1985 Venia docendi: " The Importance of Oxytocin and Prostaglandins for the Mechanism of Labour".
1992 full professor for obstetrics and gynaecology and chief of the I. Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Vienna University.
After restructuring of the University-Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology chief of the Division of Obstetrics, 1996 administrative chief of the whole Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Vienna University.
Peter Husslein has published extensively on topics like Prostaglandins in Obstetrics, Prenatal Diagnosis, Premature
Labour, Caesarean-section and has co-authored and co-edited several textbooks. He is serving on the board of the Austrian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Austrian Perinatal Society, the Austrian Society for Preventive Medicine and several other societies. Since 1998 Univ.-Prof. Dr. P. Husslein is Member of the Faculty of Medicine of the Vienna University and vice-speaker of the group of full professors. Univ. Prof. Dr. P. Husslein is married to Dr. Agnes Husslein, born Arco. They have two children, Heinrich and Katharina.
